Amy Harmer
Amy is a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist who graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy in 2017. She has since gained experience working in both NHS and private settings, most recently in a private MSK practice in Doncaster which has given her the opportunity to develop her clinical knowledge and skills considerably.

She has developed a particular interest in lower limb biomechanics and how it relates to function, and therefore sought further learning opportunities in this area, and has attended courses focused on the biomechanics of running. Utilising functional analysis of movement patterns to identify areas of weakness or muscular imbalance that may contribute to a problem, Amy enjoys finding the root cause of a problem, as well as using manual therapy techniques in order to treat a patient’s symptoms.
She always strives to broaden her knowledge, and has recently started studying for her MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Musculoskeletal Management, with her first two modules focusing on the lower and upper limb.
She also has a keen interest in Pilates. After practicing it herself for a number of years decided to undertake her APPI Matwork Level 1 and Level 2, enabling her to teach Pilates classes, where she enjoys working closely with individuals to develop core muscle strength and focus on postural and movement abnormalities.
Amy spent a couple of years working alongside an amateur rugby club based in Doncaster providing weekly MSK clinics and pitch-side first aid for first team players.
Her interest in sport came after representing GB at junior level in international figure skating competitions during her time as a competitive figure skater.
