Osteitis pubis is the name given to the condition where the pubic bone at the front of the pelvis becomes inflamed and irritated. It can be an extremely painful condition, and will be most felt during and after exercise and will be locally tender to touch.
Pain will often radiate into the groin and surrounding areas, however the tender spot on the front of the pelvis will be the most notable symptom.
It is not a hugely common injury, but is mostly common in sports involving lots of changing in direction, kicking movements. It can also occur following pregnancy and child birth, due to the large amount of stress the pelvic region is placed under.
