She has a wide range of experience and strongly feels she is best where mental and physical health blur together.
For Alison, this is means when eating and concerns about weight causes worries, anxieties and strong feelings. This is in the areas of Eating Disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders. She understands these worries are present in people who are very thin; and also in those who are very overweight.
She has a particular interest in those people who are driven to exercise to the point where their health may no longer benefit from such a tough regime.
Alison is sure that for some, these worries and anxieties can affect physical health and cause physical symptoms and she feels her approach to working with people with IBS is really positive, and reflects the link between mind and body – and of course a diet that minimises symptoms
Alison bases her advice on sound clinical knowledge, and she uses techniques for helping her clients to make changes to their eating habits at their own pace. Her work is based on Motivational Interviewing, Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy techniques.
